Flippers designed as modular units for ease of maintenance. The anvils (on top) are lifted hydraulically to flip one pipe at a time while the other pipes remain on the racks. The flippers are adjustable for each diameter of tubular ranging from small drill pipe to 20” Casing.

The Catwalk Skate has a Double dish contour (DDC) which is patented by Oiltech to ensure that tubulars cannot accidentally become unrestrained during operation. Picture shows the robust drive system for the pusher consisting of a heavy duty drive unit, with duplex chains either side. This arrangement prevents pusher crabbing and offers a redundancy feature. Another patented feature is Oiltech’s soft nudge function which prevents the tubular from receiving compression loads (possible bowing) if the Driller is too aggressive. Safety is our passion.

Tailing Arms (Under Construction)

5 Tailing Arms built and awaiting delivery. The arms swing from the back of the mast, restrain the tubular and gently bring the tubular to CW (tripping in). Conversely the Tailing Arm will push the tubular to the Catwalk Machine when laying pipes down. This prevents any dangers from unrestrained tubulars. The Tailing Arm is linked to the ZMS to eliminate any dangers in the event of wrongful handling.

Iron Roughnecks ‘special design’ for client for use in North Sea Operations. 3 Jaw operation to reduce damage to tubulars and both manual and remote operation.

The Spinner arrangement had to cope with a large range of tubular diameters (and old distorted tubulars). In order to achieve this (and maintain the efficiency of 4 roller contact) the rollers needed to be stepped to cope with the smaller tubulars. The front pair of spinners swing into the tubular and effectively pull the rear two forward to maintain the contact. This allows efficient operation if the tubular is distorted. Operational experience.

Riser Racker Crane. This Crane is custom made for a Canadian Platform. It is made to automatically collect a Riser from CW and place it into a rack at a specified location. The hoisting is chain drive with a Stainless Steel bucket. X direction movement is by Hydraulic Drive Units mating with machine Racks. Y direction movement is by double acting hydraulic cylinders within the trolley. Quality and Robustness.

A pair of 90 Tonnes BOP Hoists for a Canadian Platform. The original design was by DEC Aberdeen that had got themselves into financial difficulties. The client entered into an agreement with the administrator to buy the components which were then trucked to Oiltech. Our task was to make the system work, function test, load test and prepare them for shipment (photo shows the Cranes within shipping frames). We had to redesign the continuous roller system and hand fettle the chain tracks and replace several parts. REAL ENGINEERING.

Dedicated Hydraulic Power Unit. 1x55 kW pump set giving 57 GPM at 1200 psi, and 30 GPM at 3000 psi. 500 litres reservoir. This unit is low cost, low maintenance and small footprint and ideal for those products in tight spaces or variation of loads (for example Roughnecks, Manipulator Arms, Casing Stabbing Arms, Tailing Arms, etc). COST EFFECTIVE.

Custom Hydraulic Power unit. 2x37kW pump sets giving 170 l/min at 207 bar (ca 3000psi). 1000 litres stainless steel reservoir. This can be used in automated systems and for those systems that have multi-users (foe example Racking Systems, Tubular Handling Systems, Mobile Pipe handling Units, etc). BESPOKE DESIGN.

30T Refurbished Beebe Hoist. This was stripped down, bearings replaced, function and load tested and new Chain blocks fitted. Ready to use for another 10 year. VERSATILE SERVICE.

Automated Hydraulic Pipe Conveyor originally built and tested by a Norwegian Supplier. Never used and in excellent condition. Designed, built and classified for North Sea use (minus 20). System handles tubulars with diameters between 2 7/8” to 20” Casings up to 45 feet. Unit is complete with extendable Tailing Arm which can travel 6500mm (over 20’) into the Drill floor. Comes with manual control and wireless controller. COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION.

Pipe Transfer Conveyor for Abu Dhabi, being assembled in our UK facility. The PTC was over 70’ long and capable of handling doubles and large casings. For transportation we manufactured the PTC’s in 2 section as can be seen on the photo. The units were simply bolted together at site, with quick connects for hydraulics and snap connectors for the hydraulics. A retractable Tailing Arm was fitted to the front of the unit. DESIGNED TO SUIT LOGISTICS.

Pipe Transfer Conveyor is fitted to the MPU (Mobile Pipe Handler) which also houses Oiltech HPU, Crane and Grabs. In total we supplied 6 of these units, 4 were sent direct to Abu Dhabi and 2 were sent to China (Baoji) where the Rig was being built. 2 of the 6 units were mechanised units. 4 of the 6 were semi-automated. DESIGNED TO SUIT CLIENT PREFERENCE.

The D-MAN Upper Racking Arm undergoing repeatability tests in our UK facility. The D-MAN system eradicates the dangerous tasks of the Derrickman on the monkey board. The arm can be mechanised so that the upper racking is safe and hands-free, or completely operated from the Drillers House. LIGHTWEIGHT AND LOW COST.

The controls for an automated D-MAN Racking Arm shows the HMI screen mimicking the Racking Board. With automation the Driller can set the sequence of Tripping In or Tripping Out. MODERN TECHNOLOGY WITH PRACTICAL DESIGN.

Wireless Control for Iron Roughneck. All controls for making-up and breaking-out connections are made from this unit, ensuring that the Operative keeps hands away from operations. SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE.

3 Panels (HPU Panel, MCP, and Control Panel) for a tubular handling system were built at our UK test facility. Because the handling system was in Middle East these tests were simulated testing. After 5 hours of exhaustive testing the system got the ‘thumbs up’. PRIDE IN OUR WORK
